Skincare Review: Kedma Milk Cleanser with Dead Sea Salt Minerals

I have incredibly oily and sensitive skin, one that’s prone to breakouts even when I’m not on my period. My pimples especially flare up when I wear makeup for an entire day. That’s why I always make it a point to have a full skincare routine that strips my face of dirt, oil and makeup, and then refreshes it afterwards for a good beauty rest.

While I do have my personal set of holy grail skincare products, there are times I would try out some new ones, especially if they’ve got cult-favorite ingredients. So when my tita recommended that I try out the Kedma Milk Cleanser, I was more than happy to indulge her.

I know a thing or two about Kedma Cosmetics Philippines. My tita, who’s a self-proclaimed skincare guru, swears by them and the nourishing benefits of Dead Sea minerals. She once went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and brought home a tote bag’s worth of skincare products infused with Dead Sea minerals. She hoarded them because she thought there wouldn’t be a local brand offering products with Dead Sea minerals. When she discovered Kedma Cosmetics, she was incredibly excited and she hasn’t been using any other skincare brand since.

Anyway, enough chit-chat! I’ve been using the cleanser for over a week now and it has shown fantastic results. Let’s get on to the review!

The Packaging

First things first, I want to talk about the packaging. It looks simple but luxurious with its gold accents. I actually love how minimalist and classy it looks. Whenever I see it on my beauty counter, I feel like a successful career woman. I also prefer cleansers with pumps, as it just makes it easier to measure how much product you need.

During Application

The consistency of the cleanser is thick but it has a silky soft feel that glides over the skin. It’s not very foamy but I actually prefer it that way. It’s also very soothing and it didn’t hurt my eyes when a bit of the product got into them. As it’s generally geared for sensitive skin, it definitely lives up to its gentle and hypoallergenic claims. The smell is also milky, which I expected, but it also had a clean and refreshing scent underneath.

After Application

I definitely felt refreshed and my skin felt soft and smooth. It didn’t instantly clear my pimples, but I wasn’t hoping for a miracle cleanser anyway. It does its job of stripping my face of oil and makeup, prepping my skin for the next step in my routine. I did notice that my complexion became a bit brighter and more dewy.

Facial Oil

Other Features to Look Out For

Aside from its main ingredient milk, it has these other plant ingredients that offer the following benefits:

  • Dead Sea Salt – rids the pores of oil and dirt. Also helps maintain the skin’s moisture balance while protecting it from harmful UV rays.
  • Sesame Oil – works as natural sunscreen and skin detoxifier. Also keeps skin smooth and prevents the formation of wrinkles.
  • Orange extract – helps correct skin discoloration and promotes clearer skin by reducing age spots or blemishes.
  • Sandalwood Oil – works to cure pimples, heal dry skin, reduce signs of aging, and enhance the skin’s brightness.

Would I Buy It Again?

It’s a bit on the pricier side so I might stick to my regular mid-range cleanser. But if I had enough money to splurge, then I’d definitely re-purchase!  It’s one of those cleansers that you would use if you want to give your skin a little treat.

Writers Diary

First Sight

skeletal-601213_1920If I could go back to any day in my life, I would always choose the day that I first saw you. When I walked in through that door, little did I know that the love of my life was just standing on the other side of the room. And amidst all the commotion around us, I found you. I finally found you. For a second, I swear, I forgot how to breathe. And it’s funny because breathing is involuntary – yet I find it amazing that in your presence, I would have to recall the process of breathing in and out because if I don’t, I’ll surely die, and in that case I will never be able to know your name.

There’s no denying it, the first time I heard your voice was also the first time all the concepts of love that I had in my mind somehow came to life. It’s so amazing how someone can make you feel so much with just one word – “Hi”. And every time your eyes meet mine, it feels as if my heart is beating out of my chest and I have never felt so alive. I want you to know that my soul has never been this happy.

Love, I am craving for early mornings with you. I want to wake up every day before you just so I could see you in your most unguarded behavior and thank God for creating such a beautiful masterpiece. You may feel a bit flawed and your heart may be guarded with walls but I swear that my love for you is greater than anything that may come between us. Your imperfections only prove that you are human and it is not impossible for you to fall in love with me too. I am clinging onto that little spark of hope that somehow, maybe some way, you also feel the same way about me.

I want to be the one who makes you feel beautiful every minute of every day because you don’t deserve any less than that. I want to prove to you that your heart is safe with me, so you need not be afraid. Please, take a chance on me. I will be worth it. We will be worth it – trust me. I am not rich; and honestly, I don’t have much to offer. But if you let me, I will show you that none of those little things can measure up to the life we can build together. I may not be able to give you the future you’ve dreamt about for years but I will always try my best to give you all that you deserve.

It’s not as if we had one of those late night conversations because we didn’t. All we had was just a casual, friendly exchange of words. Yes, you will always remember me from the nights we stayed up late together. But I know deep down, I will never be more than just a distant memory. And it hurts not knowing if I actually meant something to you. Can you give me at least that? Just so I know where I stand with you. Tell me, am I the only one in this?

I guess the point of this letter is to accept the fact that no matter how good and compatible two people may seem, some are just not meant to be together – no matter how deeply in love they are; no matter how hard they try. I want you; I want all of you despite knowing I never had a chance to begin with. The thing is though, every time I try to move on, you do something that makes me want to stay. You pull me back each and every time I go.

I guess it’s true when they said that in life, we can’t always get what we want and that sometimes, we just have to be okay with that. I met the right person at the right time only to find out it was in the wrong era. This kind of love is yet to be accepted and maybe that’s one of the reasons why your values might not be the same as mine. So maybe, just maybe, in another life, you’re still the one made for me and I, I’m finally the one meant for you.

If I could go back to any day in my life, I would always choose the day that I first saw you just so I can fall in love with you all over again. ‘Cause no matter how much it hurts that I can’t be with you now, I can’t deny that you made me feel things I haven’t felt in a really long time. You made me believe that my heart is capable to feel love again. Baby, you have my foolish heart.

REVIEW: Jericho Cosmetics’ Premium Pomegranate Facial Peel with Dead Sea Minerals

Jericho Cosmetics Philippines - Pomegranate Peel - Box
Jericho Cosmetics Philippines – View of the Box

There’s something about exfoliants that draw me in. I guess it’s because I have generally oily skin and exfoliating is an essential part of my skincare routine to minimize the grease. But I stay away from manual exfoliants because I find them irritating to the skin, causing me to breakout more than anything. As much as possible, I stick to gentle ones that are safe and filled with natural ingredients.

I’ve only ever tried three facial exfoliants: NEOGEN Bio-Peel Gauze, Cure Natural Aqua Gel, and COSRX Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion. These are relatively good products, especially for their price range, but I still find myself looking for something better.

I was lucky to get my hands on Jericho Cosmetic’s Pomegranate Facial Peel with Dead Sea Minerals. This is the first time I’m trying out anything from Australia – my skincare products are usually Korean, Japanese, or American. And gentle facial peels are all the rage lately, aren’t they? I’m praying this one lives up to the hype.

THE LABEL

Based on their website, the formula is supposed to be light and non-abrasive. It claims to have pomegranate extracts that are great for cleansing and exfoliating the skin without the scratching properties of most facial scrubs. The peel is $190 (Australian dollars), which is not a bad price for a premium product. A lot of Jericho skin care products are in this price range, as well. It may be a bit over my budget, but it’s not something that would put me off.

INGREDIENTS

Let’s start with the most important part. On Jericho Cosmetics’ website, there’s a complete list of ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Carbomer, Aloe Vera Juice, Cetrimonium Chloride, Pomegranate Extract, Bladderwrack Extract, Green Tea Extract, Dead Sea Salt (Maris Sal), Fragrance (Parfum), Phenoxyethanol, Red 4 (CI 4700), Yellow 6 (CI 15985).

Off the bat, you can see that it’s a pretty short list. Which is always a good thing – less is more. I can also tell that the majority of these ingredients are natural and non-irritating, which is a plus for exfoliants.

Another important thing is that the product claims to be cruelty-free. So far, so good.

HOW TO USE

Both the website and the product’s box say that I should cleanse first before using. Then, I could go ahead and apply the product onto damp skin while avoiding the general eye area. The website says to leave it on for 10 to 15 seconds and then start massaging. Jericho Cosmetics recommends you to rinse well with warm water and put on moisturizer right after.

If irritation does occur, the website says that you should wash the product off immediately and discontinue use.

PACKAGING

Inside the box is the product and a white plastic spatula (which I forgot to take a picture of, I apologize). The packaging isn’t too impressive but it also isn’t bad. The lines are clean, which likely alludes to the purity of the product. I do like the holographic effect of the container – it adds a bit of pizzazz to an otherwise – understated packaging.

The screw-on lid is easy to open and close, and presented no struggles whatsoever. Inside, the product has a protective plastic plate for sanitary and purity purposes, I suppose, and that one’s easy to pull out too.

SCENT

It does have the pomegranate scent, although it does not exactly smell like natural pomegranate – it smells sweeter. If anything, it smells a lot like candy and it makes me want to eat it, especially with that fruity orange color. The odor isn’t too strong and diffuses immediately after application.

CONSISTENCY AND APPLICATION

Jericho Cosmetics Philippines - Pomegranate Peel - My arms
Jericho Cosmetics Philippines Pomegranate Facial Peel on my skin.

The product is cold to the touch the first time around, which is great for a facial peel. The consistency is watery and, as you can see on the photo, it’s a transparent solution with a slight pinkish orange tint. It feels like an exfoliant and a soothing cream mixed into one product.

After 15 seconds and a bit of rubbing, you will immediately see dead skin buildup.  Gross but oddly therapeutic! [Jericho Dead Sea Cosmetics Philippines’ Pomegranate Face Peel]

On the face, it’s much more satisfying to see dead skin ball up.  I was skeptical at first because the buildup could have been from the product itself but when they started to change color to a grayish shade, I knew that it took the dirt off my face, too. AFTER USE

This photo is me, right after I washed the product off my face. I didn’t put anything other than lipstick and a bit of blush but I can see that my face is a lot brighter after the peel. It also gives my face a youthful, dewy finish – my Korean skin goals were achieved. Hah!

Review of Jericho Dead Sea Cosmetics – PROS AND CONS

Pros

  • Fuss-free packaging
  • Lightweight texture
  • Natural and non-irritating ingredients
  • Easy application
  • Didn’t cause itching or breakouts

Cons

  • A bit on the pricey side
  • Has an artificial odor that might not appeal to some people

WILL YOU REPURCHASE?

Definitely. This might be my new favorite exfoliant, if I’m being completely honest.  I’m soooo happy with my Jericho Cosmetics Philippines‘ haul and I’m looking forward to trying their other products like the one I read here. Yeeeaaah!

OVERALL RATING

Are you kidding? A solid 5/5!

Writer’s Diary

She has a bookshelf for a heart,

And ink runs through her veins,

She’ll write you into her story,

With the typewriter in her brain,

Her bookshelf’s getting crowded,

With all the stories that she’s penned,

Of the people who flicked through her pages,

But closed the book before the end,

And there’s one pushed to the very back,

That sits collecting dust,

With its title in her finest writing,

“The One’s Who Lost My Trust”,

There’s books she’s scared to open,

And books she doesn’t close,

Stories of every person she’s met,

Stretched out in endless rows,

Some people have only a sentence,

While others once held a main part,

Thousands of inky footprints,

That they’ve left across her heart,

You might wonder why she does this,

Why write of people she once knew?

But she hopes one day she’ll mean enough,

For someone to write about her too.
